Call to Adventure: Jackie's adventure begins when he is asked to play baseball for a white baseball team. He just wants to play baseball but soon realizes that he is signed up for more than a game.
Crossing First Thresholds: Jackie realizes what he has gotten into when he experiences his first practice with the Montreal Royals. Here he enters a world where the rules and limits are not known to him besides those placed on him by white America.
Initiation
Road of Trials: His trials started before he was even signed to the Brooklyn Dodgers because he was black in America. But the trials did not stop there. He was forced to leave the bed and breakfast he was staying in because of white mob threats, various hotels and business no longer wanted to support the Dodgers because of the Negro on their team and one of the most memorable tests was in the game against the Philadelphia Phillies and their team manager, Ben Chapmen was taunting Robinson. Here, Robinsons transformation became clear when he did not react violently to the hate.
Meeting the Goddess: He asks Rachel to marry him. She becomes his rock through it all. Though she knows the danger her husband faces while laying baseball, her powerful love humbles and calms Jackie Robinson.
